More than words

Research Infographic
The idea behind this infographic was to try and alleviate the stress and confusion that underclassmen in college often feel when approaching research for the first time.
The colors were chosen to blend in with the building and furniture of the library. I hoped that using colors which naturally fit in with the building instead of sharp, contrasting colors would communicate the natural nature of the different steps to research.
As someone who has never been particularly skilled artistically or aesthetically, this project was one of the more difficult ones, mentally speaking, that I have done. However, it did give me an opportunity to explore the visual nature of library users' information seeking behaviors, and challenged me to take a more holistic view of information literacy.
I ended this project with a greater respect for those who are talented with these types of projects, and a deeper interest in expanding my visual storytelling skills.
Research Center Business Cards
This small business card was created to help promote my library's Research Center. The QR code directed library users to a Microsoft Bookings page where they could schedule an individual meeting with qualified library staff. I chose a very simple, monochromatic style, both as a way to incorporate the QR code more deeply in the design and as a way to concentrate the focus of the card as a whole..
As I worked on this project, I was challenged by the need for multiple avenues for raising awareness of the library's services and resources and for a multi-faceted effort to engaging users.
This project allowed me to engage again with the elements of visual design and attempt to communicate through more than just the words I am so comfortable with. I left the project more confidant in my designing skills and with a greater understanding of the world of design.
