I created this proposal as part of my study of LIS literature. I hoped to encourage more awareness of the current state of Information Literacy as an academic subject and as a part of everyday library work.

As a professional, I needed to understand the conversations happening every day around the ever changing practice and experiences of librarians across the country and around the world. Understanding the publication patterns through this research has enabled me to navigate the world of scholarly literature with increased confidence.

This libguide highlights a historical author whose influence on western literature is deeply ingrained, and is intended to provide basic resources for undergraduate English students.

This project really challenged me to consider a new perspective on a topic I am quite familiar with, and try to understand how someone completely new to the topic may approach it. Understanding the information seeking behaviors of  library users has equipped me to provide excellent service to my local community moving forward.

This document outlines a potential project that utilizes the DarwinCore metadata schema to increase learning and collaboration between a local university and its community. The plan outlines the creation of a local database of information regarding the sighting and habits of local wildlife in order to advance the scientific understanding of the local area.

Working on this project forced me to reconsider what I knew about the basic building blocks of information, and emphasized the challenges involved with communicating information from human to machine and back again.

Through this project, I am now much better prepared to assist community members in the search for information, especially when information is difficult to obtain through poor or complex metadata.
